Jimmy Chamberlin

Founding member of the Smashing Pumpkins and the bands highly acclaimed drummer for over 20 years. As former CEO of LiveOne Inc. led the Company to 300% year-on-year event growth rate. Successful engagements with a number of the world’s best-known media companies and brands, including Coke, Budweiser, Sony Music, Vans, Chelsea FC, Yahoo, NBC Sports, CBS Sports.

Currently CEO of Blue J Strategies – providing strategy and connectivity to media and tech companies. Celebrated public speaker with appearances at SXSW, Web Summit, Kellogg School of Mgmt. San Francisco Music and Tech, University of Illinois, Illinois State University, This Week in Start-Ups, Start Up Grind, Pando, Fast Company, and many others. Mr. Chamberlin is a representative of World Business Chicago and sits on the Board of Trustees of Columbia College Chicago.

Mark Cohon

Mark Cohon, O. Ont., M.S.M.

Mark Cohon is an experienced sports and entertainment executive, proven turn-around expert, active public speaker and entrepreneur at heart.

In sports, Mark is best known for his leadership as the 12th Commissioner of the CFL. Mark was the driving force behind the renaissance of the league. His eight-year stewardship of the CFL was a remarkable run that saw the CFL’s business model transformed and its brand rejuvenated.

Strong attendance, record television ratings, $2 billion in new stadiums, strengthened corporate partnerships, a return to the nation’s capital and the almost tripling of team distributions from the league office were are all part of Mark’s legacy.

Mark is routinely listed among the most influential people in Canadian sport. He is a former executive with Major League Baseball International (MLB), where he was Director of Corporate and Game Development, and the National Basketball Association, where he was recruited by then Commissioner David Stern to serve as Director and Group Manager of International Marketing, Managing Director of NBA Europe, and Vice-President of Business Development.

Former Chief Development Officer for Petopia, a multi-channel retailer in the United States, Mark was also the President and CEO of AudienceView, an event ticketing firm that grew under his leadership to claim such prominent international clients as the Toronto Blue Jays, the new Wembley Stadium, Churchill Downs and MGM Inc.

Michael Murrey

Managing Partner, MRM Partners, LLC

Michael R. Murrey is Managing Partner of newly formed MRM Partners, LLC. MRM Partners, LLC offers consulting services to the sports, event and entertainment marketing and management industry.

Murrey brings over 30 years of diverse sports, sponsorship, event and entertainment marketing and management experience and a unique industry perspective to his clients. He has worked on all sides of the sports and events business including with agencies, major corporations, and properties/rightsholders.

Most recently, Murrey was Senior Vice President, Global Partnerships for WME|IMG responsible for creation, development, management and implementation of innovative strategic event marketing and sponsorship programs for corporations investing in various sports and entertainment initiatives. For the last 16 years, Murrey and his Chicago-based team of corporate consultants have provided consulting services for such clients as Allstate Insurance Company, Marriott International, Kimberly-Clark Corporation Family-Care Brands (Kleenex, Cottonelle, Scott, VIVA, Kotex), Devry University, Campbell’s Soup, Pacific Wine Partners, 24 Hour Fitness, Agro-Farma Inc./Chobani Yogurt, Brown-Forman Wine Brands (Korbel Champagne, Fetzer and Bolla) and McDonald’s Corporation among others. Additionally, Murrey served on the Senior Leadership Team for WME|IMG’s Global Partnership unit as well as its Global Olympic Leadership Team.

In January, 2001, Murrey and his partner, Steve Disson, spun off the consulting division of Disson Furst and Partners to form Disson and Associates, which was then acquired by industry giant, IMG. Murrey served as Chief Operating Officer of Disson and Associates, a wholly-owned subsidiary of IMG. Prior to joining Disson and Associates and the IMG family, he was a founding Partner and Managing Director of the Olympics and Corporate Consulting Practice at Disson Furst and Partners (DFP), a diverse sports and entertainment marketing concern. Prior to DFP, he worked for Marquis Events International by Marriott as Director of Marketing and Event Development and then assumed overall management responsibilities for this event management and marketing division of Marriott International, as its Acting General Manager. He was a founding member of the division that provided a wide range of event management and marketing services to clients, which included the National Football League, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the PGA Tour.

Murrey also served as the first Director of Sports and Event Marketing for Leo Burnett USA where he worked with clients such as McDonald’s, Sony, United Airlines, Shuttle By United, Oldsmobile, Reebok, Miller Brewing, Hallmark among others. Prior to that, he spent almost ten years with the U.S. Olympic Committee, where he directed national and regional marketing initiatives and national and regional development and fundraising programs. Murrey is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and the Executives Club of Chicago and serves on the Board of Directors of World Sport Chicago, the Board of Directors of the National Sports Marketing Network – Chicago Chapter and the Advisory Council of the Chicago Sports Commission. He is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
