Red Frog Events commits 1 percent of profit to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

(CHICAGO, IL and MEMPHIS, TN – Oct. 5, 2016) – Red Frog Events announced today a donation of 1 percent of annual profits to its charity partner, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. This is the first time a St. Jude partner has committed a percentage of its annual profits to support the hospital’s lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children.

Red Frog Events first partnered with St. Jude in 2009, and through various programs and initiatives, has raised more than $13.5 million toward a $25-million commitment made to the hospital in 2013. This commitment funded the first proton therapy center in the world dedicated solely to children. The St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center opened December 2015 with a vibrant ambiance that resembles Red Frog Events’ Chicago headquarters.

“From the moment we learned about the inspiring, lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we realized we had an opportunity to support their efforts and make a significant impact,” said Ryan Kunkel, co-CEO of Red Frog Events. “There’s no other organization providing the caliber of research, findings and treatment to childhood cancer. We’re honored to increase our dedication to St. Jude with this commitment.”

Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent, and won’t stop until no child dies from cancer. Because of the generous support of partnerships like this, no family ever receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food, because St. Jude believes all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

“Red Frog Events has truly embraced the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and this decision to donate 1 percent of its annual profits is an innovative way to demonstrate Red Frog’s deep passion and commitment to supporting St. Jude patients and their families,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “We are grateful for Red Frog Events’ leadership, staff and supporters, who help St. Jude continue our pioneering research and exceptional care, including the St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center, which gives St. Jude doctors the ability to deliver state-of-the-art care tailored specifically for children.”

Red Frog Events was founded in 2007 by Joe Reynolds. Its fundraising efforts for St. Jude have come from a variety of efforts and through the company’s events and services. Red Frog’s Warrior Dash obstacle race series has raised millions of dollars and the Firefly Music Festival has been a key driver of the St. Jude Music Gives program. Through their ticketing platform, EventSprout, Red Frog Events’ clients have the opportunity to add a St. Jude fundraising component onto their event’s ticketing process, something Red Frog does for all of its own events. Red Frog Events was named the 2013 St. Jude Corporate Partner of the Year.

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 2, 2016) – What happens when extreme obstacle course racing is paired with the fact that more than half of Americans (58%) – and 79% of millennials – admit to singing in the shower weekly? An optimal opportunity for muddy, musical magic. As part of its HappiMess campaign, Delta Faucet announced its continued partnership with Warrior Dash events and will debut a new consumer stage in the form of an in-shower karaoke station for participants to belt out their favorite tunes while getting clean post-race.

The innovative, outdoor showering station delivers a new twist for Warrior Dash race participants who can turn up the volume to their go-to shower serenades as they rinse clean after races across the U.S. this summer.

“From bounding over fire and trudging through mud, Warrior Dash race participants are no strangers to having fun while getting messy,” said Catherine Roper, Delta® brand marketing director. “We’re proud to be back for a second year with the Warrior Dash events on our mission to help consumers embrace life’s messes with confidence and fun. The added karaoke component allows Dashers to celebrate a bit more loudly and with a bit more fun in a unique, only-in-the-shower way.”

Additional Singing in the Shower Findings

The Delta Faucet Singing in the Shower survey identified the following trends for those who turn their shower into private concerts:

• Nearly 1 in 3 (29%) Americans sing in the shower 4 to 7 days a week
• Topping the shower charts: Pop (27%), Rock (24%), R&B (21%), Country (20%) and Show Tunes (7%)
• 51% of Americans and 76% of Millennials admit to eavesdropping on their significant other singing with suds
• High hopes! 24% of shower singers liken themselves to British songstress Adele when singing in the shower, followed by Taylor Swift (17%) and Michael Jackson (16%)
• Shower singers’ favorite decades rank as follows: 2000 boybands and pop divas (31%), 1990s hit makers (20%), 70s jams (17%), 80s favorites (17%) and 60s oldies (15%)

Before reaching the karaoke shower station, Warrior Dash race participants conquer 12 world-class obstacles throughout the 5K course. Participants can experience a custom, outdoor shower station featuring more than 40 Delta® H2Okinetic® showerheads, which deliver water in a unique wave pattern to deliver the feeling of a warmer, more drenching shower. The shower station can be found at the following six Warrior Dash events this summer:

• Minnesota – July 23
• Ohio – August 20 & 21
• Pennsylvania – August 27
• Indiana – September 10
• Colorado – September 17
• Oregon – September 24

“As Warrior Dash enters its eighth season of providing memorable, HappiMess experiences – having partners like Delta Faucet helps us deliver those moments on and off the course,” said Alex Yount, Sr. Manager of Partnerships at Warrior Dash and Red Frog Events. “The in-shower karaoke component delivers an interactive, fun and personalized way to celebrate our Warriors’ accomplishments and transform them back to clean.”

All H2Okinetic showerheads at the events are WaterSense-labeled and flow at 2.0 gallons per minute or less to create the feeling of more water while using up to 40 percent less water than a standard showerhead. Red Frog Events commits 1 percent of profit to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center provides one of the most advanced radiation technologies yet for treatment of pediatric cancer

(MEMPHIS, Tenn. – December 14, 2015) St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® officials and guests today marked the opening of the St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center, the first proton therapy center in the world dedicated solely to children with cancer.

Patients are now being treated at the center using precisely delivered, high-energy particles called protons to kill or shrink tumors while minimizing damage to healthy tissue and organs. For patients with brain tumors and certain other cancers, research suggests proton beam therapy may be more effective than conventional radiation at preventing the growth and spread of tumors while reducing the risk of treatment-related side effects.

“St. Jude researchers first used radiation therapy to turn the tide against pediatric cancer decades ago and have continued to help define its optimal use in treatment,” said James R. Downing, M.D., St. Jude president and chief executive officer. “The opening of the St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center marks the next chapter of radiation therapy at St. Jude—one that I believe will be another milestone moment in our fight against pediatric cancer.”

The $90-million center includes the linear accelerator, a synchrotron, a three-story rotating gantry, powerful magnets and other equipment necessary to generate and deliver high-energy protons to tumors using small, carefully calibrated beams. The beams, which may include protons traveling at almost two-thirds the speed of light, are measured in millimeters. The system features advanced imaging technology, including cone-beam CT to provide a 3-D image of the patient’s anatomy to achieve precise positioning for treatment. The depth and intensity of the proton beam is guided by advanced control systems to conform to the shape of the tumor. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared the features unique to the St. Jude proton therapy system November 2, 2015.

The center also contains three proton therapy treatment rooms, treatment preparation and recovery rooms for patients plus a musical staircase that leads to a rain forest-inspired waiting room. The center’s multidisciplinary staff includes specialists from oncology, radiation therapy, imaging, nursing, child life and other disciplines.

“Since we heard about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s plans for the proton therapy center and the remarkable patient outcomes it could provide, we knew we wanted to make an impact in a big way,” says Ryan Kunkel, co-CEO of Red Frog Events. “This revolutionary center will change the lives of so many families and young patients, and we couldn’t be more proud to stand here today and be part of this.”

The center is located in the Kay Research and Care Center, which opened earlier this year and also houses a state-of-the-art surgery and intensive care unit, the Marlo Thomas Center for Global Education and Collaboration, and other facilities. The center is named in honor of Red Frog Events. In 2013 the company’s co-CEOs, Kunkel and Joe Reynolds, pledged to raise $25 million to bring proton beam therapy to the hospital’s campus.

“The generosity of our friends at Red Frog is truly inspiring and life changing,” said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., president and chief executive officer of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude. “Every family that benefits from cutting-edge treatment in this one-of-a-kind center will know that it is due to the compassion and dedication of the Red Frog Events family and all their incredible supporters.  All of us at St Jude are profoundly grateful.”

Since 2009, St. Jude patients have traveled to Florida to received proton therapy at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, Fla., as part of a clinical research collaboration.

St. Jude officials plan to gradually increase the number of children treated at the newly opened center. Along with brain tumors, proton therapy is used to treat Hodgkin lymphoma and such solid tumors as Ewing sarcoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, neuroblastoma and retinoblastoma. By 2018, officials anticipate 80 percent of children receiving radiation therapy at St. Jude will receive proton beam therapy. The remaining patients will receive photon radiation therapy, which uses X-rays rather than protons for cancer treatment.

St. Jude and other researchers have made significant progress in delivering photon radiation in a more targeted manner, but X-rays travel through the body, affecting healthy tissue in the path. In contrast, the high-energy particles used in proton therapy stop at the tumor. The center’s proton beam technology features spot or pencil beam scanning that doctors can use to “paint” the radiation dose on tumors, spot by spot and layer by layer.

“Proton therapy is the next logical step for St. Jude, which is a leader in radiation oncology technology and has helped to maximize the impact of photon radiation therapy,” said Thomas Merchant, D.O., Ph.D., chair of the St. Jude Department of Radiation Oncology. “Proton therapy is an evolution in delivery of focused radiation therapy that allows us to deliver the highest possible dose to tumors while limiting damage to surrounding tissue.” Larry Kun, M.D, St. Jude clinical director and executive vice president, added: “The center will speed the further integration of proton beam therapy into our clinical research program.”

In designing the center, Merchant and other St. Jude researchers worked closely with Hitachi Ltd., the company that produced the hospital’s proton beam system. The system includes a compact design with a footprint that is about 40 percent smaller than conventional proton beam therapy systems.

On the Battleground
New and updated obstacles, including Fisherman’s Catch and Goliath 2.0, will debut in 2016. Runners can also expect the return of participant-favorite obstacles like Pipeline and Great Warrior Wall. Warrior Dash will maintain the 5K distance in 2016, providing an attainable goal for new runners or an opportunity to cross-train for more experienced athletes.

“We’re embracing the quirky side of Warrior Dash in 2016,” says Warrior Dash Course and Obstacle Designer, Terry McMahon. “We designed our new obstacles to be challenging, but something that everyone can do. Our participants continue to ask for more engagement on the course and in the festival; this year, runners can anticipate added excitement at every corner of the event.”

Warrior Hangout, the popular festival obstacle from 2015, has been upgraded for participants and spectators looking to test their endurance off the course. Enjoy a live DJ, more photo opportunities, new sponsorship activations, and a full lineup of contests like tug-o-war, dancing, best beard, costume, and more. The festival remains free of charge and open to the public.

Participant Swag
Brand new 2016 finisher t-shirts, one-of-a-kind medals that double as wall-mountable bottle openers, and the signature fuzzy Warrior Helmet are included with each participant registration. Warriors 21 and over will receive a complimentary Shock Top Belgian White beer ticket on their personalized race bib.

The OCR World Championships and Warrior Dash
Warrior Dash is excited to partner with the OCR World Championships for their international championship event taking place on October 14-16, 2016 at Blue Mountain Resort, in Ontario, Canada. Competitive Warriors can qualify by finishing in the top 10 for their gender in any Warrior Dash competitive wave. The top three male and top three female finishers will be recognized on stage at their respective Warrior Dash award ceremony.

“We believe in cultivating a successful future for the sport of obstacle racing and look forward to providing our elite athletes the chance to compete in the premier OCR championship event,” said Ryan Kunkel, Co-CEO of Red Frog Events, the company behind Warrior Dash. “The team at the OCR World Championships host a well-executed event and we’re excited to see our top Warrior Dash participants compete amongst the best OCR athletes from around the globe.”

“The future of obstacle course racing relies on the collective community, including race organizations, working together to continue to drive it forward and ensure its success,” said Adrian Bijanada, OCR World Championships Founder and CEO. ”Since 2009, Warrior Dash has introduced millions of athletes to OCR and we couldn’t be happier to partner with them more closely on a variety of initiatives in 2016.”

2015 WARRIOR DASH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP APPROACHING RAPIDLY

New Terrain, Competitive Athletes, and $100,000 in Prize Money

PULASKI, TN (Sept. 15) – The Warrior Dash World Championship returns for a second year on Saturday, October 10, 2015. The event is hosted at Milky Way Farms, moving east after last year’s event in California. The Warrior Dash World Championship is an obstacle course race where international athletes sprint through 3.6 miles of terrain and trails to battle for their share of $100,000 and the ultimate bragging rights.

How to Qualify

Participants qualified for the Warrior Dash World Championship by finishing in the top 25 of their gender in a competitive wave at any of the 30+ international Warrior Dash locations in 2015.

Raising the Competitive Edge in 2015

Last year, over 500 athletes from across the globe competed in Esparto, California. The hilly, 3.1 mile course was dotted with 12 of the season’s most challenging obstacles. To celebrate, Warrior Dash awarded $100,000, the largest prize purse in 5K non-track history, to the top five male and female finishers. Prize purse and tiers remain the same in 2015.

1st Place: $30,000

2nd Place: $10,000

3rd Place: $5,000

4th Place: $3,000

5th Place: $2,000

New Challenges in 2015

Returning for a third year to Milky Way Farm, Tennessee’s terrain will provide a test for returning and new competitors. The 3.6 mile championship course will have an added half-mile, instead of the 3.1 mile distance at other Warrior Dash events. A variety of returning world-class athletes will be back on the battleground, including 2014 Male Champion Max King, Olympian Bridget Franek and OCR Legend, Hobie Call. “The level of competition [at the Warrior Dash World Championship] is absolutely amazing,” according to King. “You’ve got anybody from obstacle race champions, to Olympians, to fast runners, to guys like Hunter [McIntyre], who are absolute obstacle race animals.”

Warriors + St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

Red Frog Events, the company behind Warrior Dash, is nationally partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®. Since 2010, Warriors have helped raise $12.2 million dollars for the children and families of St. Jude. These donations go toward a $25-million fundraising commitment to open the St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center this fall on the St. Jude campus in Memphis, Tennessee. It will be the first center of its kind specifically designed to treat pediatric cancer. At the Championship, Warrior Dash will recognize the highest fundraising team for the 2015 Warrior Dash season. Team Missfits 4 Life, based out of Northern California, will travel to complete Warrior Dash for a fourth time, reaching a team fundraising total of $50,000 for St. Jude since 2012. Fundraising events like these help ensure no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on what matters most – helping their child live.

Attend the Warrior Dash World Championship

Thousands of participants are expected at the event on October 10, 2015. Attendance is free for spectators. Registration details and more information can be found at WarriorDash.com. To obtain more information or on-site credentials for the event, please email lauren.gardner@redfrogevents.com.
