In 2010, Red Frog Events formed a partnership with St. Jude to raise funds through our first event, Great Urban Race. As Red Frog has grown, so has our relationship with St. Jude. In 2013, we committed to fundraising $25 million toward the opening of the “St. Jude Red Frog Events Proton Therapy Center” on the hospital’s campus in Memphis. To date, Red Frog has raised over $13.5 million toward the center.
In 2016, Red Frog committed 1% of annual profits to St. Jude.
Proton therapy is the most advanced form of radiation technology available to patients because it allows doctors to precisely target cancerous cells with high doses of radiation while sparing nearby healthy cells and vital organs located beyond the tumor. Proton therapy offers a great benefit for children with brain tumors and other cancers treated with radiation therapy, as it reduces harm to the child’s developing body and lessens the risk of secondary tumors later in life.
St. Jude has collaborated with Red Frog to design the Proton Therapy Center (PTC), mirroring the “summer camp” feel of the Red Frog Events office in Chicago. The PTC is not only a progressive treatment center, it is a tangible representation of our fundraising efforts. Red Frog employees’ hearts swell with joy whenever we receive a St. Jude update, whether we are one-dollar amount closer to our $25 million commitment, or a door has been installed in the PTC complex. Click here to see why the PTC will play such a large role in battling pediatric cancer.
Our relationship with St. Jude is a huge source of pride at Red Frog Events and each of our events has a St. Jude fundraising component. It’s humbling to witness the passion for St. Jude across our event spectrum, all the way from our participants to our CEOs. During the annual Red Frog Retreat in 2013, employees were surprised with a trip to visit the hospital’s campus in Memphis. Walking the halls of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and meeting the children that are cared for there was a remarkably touching experience.
While Red Frog loves helping our Chicago community and other local communities across the US, we also understand that opportunities exist to help others across the globe. In 2012, Red Frog drew two employee names from a hat, and the fortunate winners, Lauren and Eric, were sent to Recife, Brazil on behalf of Red Frog to work with Habitat for Humanity. Not only was the experience an opportunity for them to assist a community in need, but it exposed Lauren and Eric to a country they may have never witnessed otherwise. Read about their experience here.
Other Red Froggers also take time away from work to give back; read more about two different experiences below.

During the summer, Red Frog employees have the opportunity to volunteer at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen and serve food to the local Chicago community. The kitchen collects perishable food donations from local businesses in order to re-distribute the food to those in need. Throughout the week, Red Frog helps provide the manpower to serve the meals. Red Froggers have served at the food kitchen for more than three years.
Red Frog is serious about having fun. On several occasions throughout the year, our Culture Team hosts a company-wide field trip during which we often incorporate a component of service. Since Red Frog is all about laughter, the Jokes for Miles campaign really spoke to us. During a company-wide field trip, we took turns telling our best (and arguably worst) jokes in front of the camera.

Across the US each year, Warriors storm the Battleground and conquer obstacles. While our Warriors feel a sense of accomplishment and excitement after crossing the finish line, their shoes can take quite the beating leaping over fire and navigating through the mud. Thankfully, Warrior Dash partners with USAgain in multiple locations across the US to collect muddy footwear that would otherwise be tossed in a landfill. USAgain takes the muddy Warrior sneakers and gives them a second life by cleaning and re-selling the shoes to those in need of affordable shoes.
Our events would not be possible without help from hundreds of volunteers from each of the communities in which we produce events. It’s important for Red Frog to build meaningful, lasting relationships with the local areas that host our events, and one way to reach this objective is to compensate volunteer groups with monetary donations for providing their time, enthusiasm, and effort at our events.
